DEEP was founded in 2014 as a community-based organization to help mitigate significant challenges in the Liberian education sector and school communities. Statistics covering 2006-2020 showed that 50% of the 60,000 teachers did not possess the necessary training and certificates to teach (MOE Annual School Census 2019/20). The engagement of school communities and parent-teacher associations was also at a record low rate.
Our values are pivoted around the development and improvement of all aspects of decent human life as enshrined in the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), the Convention on the Elimination of All forms of Discrimination Against women (CEDAW), and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals agenda (SDG).
