DEEP Launches Early Childhood Education (ECE) C-Certificate Teacher Training in Voinjama, Lofa County

Voinjama, Lofa County – January 31, 2026 – The Diversified Educators Empowerment Project (DEEP) has officially launched its Early Childhood Education (ECE) C-Certificate Teacher Training Program in Voinjama, Lofa County, marking a significant milestone in the advancement of foundational education in the county.

The colorful launching ceremony brought together a broad cross-section of the Voinjama community, including education stakeholders, local authorities, teachers, students, marketers, and ordinary citizens from Voinjama and its surrounding suburbs. The Lofa County Education Officer, Mr. John Sallay, served as the Chief Launcher of the program and commended DEEP for its continued commitment to strengthening teacher capacity and improving the quality of early childhood education in the county.

High-level county officials and representatives from several institutions attended the event, including delegates from the Office of the Voinjama City Mayor, the Ministry of Gender, the Marketing Association, and other civil society groups. Their presence underscored the collective community support for education development initiatives in Lofa County.

Speaking on behalf of the organization, DEEP’s Program Officer, Mr. James Folley, described the initiative as a continuation of the institution’s private teacher-training efforts in the county. He noted that DEEP has successfully completed two previous cycles of C-Certificate teacher training in Foya, and the Voinjama program represents an expansion of these efforts to reach more educators and communities across Lofa.

In his official message delivered during the ceremony, Dr. Moses Blonkanjay Jackson, Founder and CEO of DEEP, emphasized the uniqueness and importance of the initiative. He described the ECE C-Certificate program as the first of its kind in Lofa County and appealed to citizens to assume a strong sense of ownership and responsibility for its success. Dr. Jackson highlighted that quality early childhood education forms the bedrock of a strong educational system and ultimately contributes to the production of competent professionals across all sectors of society.

Dr. Jackson further explained that while DEEP’s previous teacher-training programs in Lofa were offered tuition-free, the exit of USAID from Liberia has necessitated modest financial contributions from trainees to sustain the training process. He reassured participants that the organization remains committed to affordability and quality delivery despite funding challenges.

The in-service ECE C-Certificate Teacher Training will run for 11 months, with sessions scheduled every Saturday, allowing practicing teachers and aspiring educators to participate without disrupting their regular duties. Upon completion, graduates will receive an ECE C-Certificate recognized by the Ministry of Education, which will facilitate easy vetting and enhance employment opportunities within the education sector.

The launch of this program reinforces DEEP’s mission to empower educators, strengthen early childhood learning systems, and contribute meaningfully to national education development through locally driven and community-supported initiatives.
